ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides high level technical support to school technology specialists and computer technicians for existing work orders using the SherpaDesk help desk system. Keeps records to assure sound evaluation of the projects objectives. Oversees the support division to ensure the districts technical support goals are met and facilitates the timely completion of work orders, installations, and specific projects. Maintains continuous self-study to keep up with the constantly changing technology. Oversees and facilitates the daily scheduling and completion of work orders. Facilitates and maintains accurate technology inventory for schools, classrooms and offices using BOSS or equivalent inventory tracking system. Installs and performs minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design and installation specifications. Facilitates the installation/de-installation of replacement computers, labs, and mobile carts. Oversees and facilitates the support of mobile computing devices such as iPads, iPods, Nooks, and others selected by the district or school. Maintains records of daily communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities. Sets up equipment on school or district network for employee and student use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, appropriate software, and network connectivity. Develops training materials and procedures, or trains users in the proper use of hardware or software as needed. Refers major hardware and software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service. Confers with staff, users, and district administration to establish requirements for new schools and construction projects. Develops and maintains proficiency with imaging, hardware, mobile devices, specific software, peripherals, video, multi-media, and communications equipment related to the job and curriculum needs. Responds to routine and emergency technical service requests on technology equipment and software in assigned schools. Advises and provides technical support in the process of identifying, acquiring and implementing future purchases/use of technology. Facilitates installation and configuration of PCs, laptops, netbooks, printers and other basic electronic equipment as well as provide advanced desktop, laptop, netbooks, and network connectivity support to technology specialists, technicians, and District Personnel. Keeps excellent records to assure sound evaluation of the project objectives. Shares exemplary ideas, problem resolution, and strategies and materials. Plans and organizes documentation and records for E-Rate. Provides additional help desk support for other district utilized software applications. JOB SPECIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school graduate with ten to twelve years of experience in, or any equivalent combination of training, experience, and/or certifications which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for this job. Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology Systems or other related areas such as Business or Computer Science may be considered or equivalent years experience.
